Students explore the wonders of science. They learn through a hands on, inquiry approach. Students have a blast with our science unit!
SOCIAL STUDIES

Want to know more about the state we live in? Students will certainly know a great deal by the end of this year. We explore all that Connecticut has been famous for!
SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL
​
​
On a weekly or biweekly basis, students take part in the "Second Step" program. This is geared towards conflict resolution, problem-solving, and peer pressure. I also have been trained in "Responsive Classroom," which coincides with the curriculum.
READING
​
​
Students explore fiction and nonfiction texts in our six units of study. In 4th grade, children dive deeper into interpreting characters, text structures, and using multiple sources to gain information on one topic.
MATH
​
​
This year is a big year in math for students! They are diving deeply into numbers and operations by solving multi-digit multiplication and understanding division. Student will also be working on measurement and geometry, mostly with polygons. In our biggest unit, they will be learning a great deal about fractions.
CURRICULUM
WRITING

​
In 4th grade, students will continue to hone their skils writing nonfiction and fictional stories. They will learn how to write a 5 paragraph informative piece, as well as continuing to practice writing about "small moments" to paint a picture to the audience.
